Finland by Sauna, the first guidebook to Finland’s cul-turally significant public saunas, spotlights a curated selection of noteworthy saunas open to everyone. In addition to good löyly each featured sauna carries a captivating backstory that opens up a unique travel destination.
From the country’s oldest public sauna, Masuunin Vanha Sauna, which dates back to the 1850s and is nestled into the lush forest of the former ironworks of Taalintehdas in Southwest Finland, to Kiilopää’s Kuurakaltio smoke sauna in the wilds of Lapland, Finland by Sauna takes readers to the nation’s true soul.
The book also highlights lesser-known gems including Jokisauna (the only sauna designed by Aino and Alvar Aalto currently open to the public), Serlachius Art Sauna, and Satamakonttori (the only public sauna in Sea Lapland with year-round swimming).
